// how it works

A public formula. No secret sauce.

The entire ranking system is one line of math and a small set of guardrails. If we ever change either, we'll say so in the changelog.

rank.formulav1
score = (Σ vote_weight − 1) / (age_hours + 2) ^ 1.8
Σ vote_weight — sum of all weighted votes.
age_hours — hours since submission. Never resets.
^ 1.8 — decay exponent. Higher = faster gravity.
  1. 01
    Submit

    Post a product or a changelog entry. Only signed-in builders can submit. Free to submit — always. One product per slug — no duplicates.

  2. 02
    Vote

    One vote per human per subject. Vote weight is 1.0 in phase 1. Bots and vote rings get filtered out at the source, not after the fact.

  3. 03
    Rank

    Every row is ranked by a public time-decay formula. No manual boosts. No paid promotion. No editorial thumb on the scale.

  4. 04
    Decay

    As hours pass, gravity pulls scores down at a 1.8 exponent. Great products hold the front page for days, then gracefully move aside.

Guardrails

  • · No client-side score calculation — only server views.
  • · One vote row per (user, subject). Enforced at the database.
  • · No 24h wipe. No vote inflation. No fake trending.
  • · Vote weight stays 1.0 until reputation lands in phase 2.
